Greige (loom-state, undyed/unfinished fabric) is tracked separately from finished goods. Keep a catalog of the base fabrics you buy in, their specs and suppliers, and the stock you hold ready for dyeing or finishing.
The greige catalog
Go to Greige Fabric to see your base fabrics. Each row shows:

Greige items also carry a color (typically Natural) and a weight (e.g. g/m²). Use the search box to filter by code, name, composition, or supplier.
Receiving greige by the piece
Fabric usually arrives as a set of rolls (pieces), each a slightly different length. When you receive greige on a goods-in order, you can record each piece individually rather than entering a single lump quantity. The order rolls up the piece measures into a received total and updates stock.
A goods-in order moves through three states:

TIP
Recording piece measures gives you an accurate roll-by-roll record, so cut planning and stock figures reflect the real lengths you received — not a rounded estimate.
Greige vs. finished goods
- Greige — base fabric you buy in to dye, print, or finish
- Finished goods — your sellable products (see Goods)
Keeping them apart means your stock figures and costs stay clean as fabric moves from loom-state through production into a finished product.
